J.League Announces Partnership With Qatar Stars League

The Japan Professional Football League (J.League) entered into a partnership agreement with the Qatar Stars League on Saturday, May 23 2015.

The agreement represents the ninth (9th) such partnership that the J.League has established, following similar arrangements with leagues in Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Indonesia, Iran, and Malaysia.

Qatar is scheduled to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Using this partnership as a base, Japan and Qatar will look to improve their youth development and strengthen the next generation of players ahead of that tournament. In order to promote the growth of football in both countries, the two leagues will collaborate in fields such as communication, marketing, tournament operations, and academy development, with the aim of improving the organisation and management of both leagues.

■ Contents of Partnership:

1. To establish exchange programs for age-appropriate players, including training camps and friendly matches, in order to promote the success of both countries in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

2. To share expertise and hold seminars regarding match operations, advertising, marketing, club management, community and fan development.

3. To establish training courses for coaches from both countries.

4. To host friendly matches between the two countries.

5. To share expertise related to sports science and medicine.

6. To share expertise related to sports facility establishment and construction as well as sports-related equipment.

7. To share expertise regarding league organisation and personnel development.

8. To share expertise related to the prevention of match fixing and the protection of integrity in sport.

9. To share expertise related to club licenses and financial fair play.

10. To encourage interaction between stakeholders in both countries and the creation of mutually beneficial business opportunities.
