On the passing of Mr. Salvatore Schillaci

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Salvatore Schillaci, who played for Jubilo Iwata from 1994 to 1997. We would like to express our deepest condolences.

Here is the comment of J.League Chairman Yoshikazu NONOMURA.

“I was very surprised to hear of Mr. Schillaci’s passing.

I have played against Mr. Schillaci when he was playing in the J. League. He was a real striker, a threat to the opponent with his brilliant play and excellent sense for scoring goals. His play is still deeply etched in the memories of fans and supporters.

We, J. League, J clubs and the football family in Japan would like to express our sincere condolences to the striker who was active in the early days of the J. League.”
